In the spirit of Celiac Disease Awareness Month, Danna Korn has taken the time to answer some questions for my readers here at Gluten-Free is Life. Take a look:
Thanks, Danna, for taking time out of your very busy schedule to chat with us!
Make sure to check out Gluten Freely or ask Danna additional questions about all things gluten-free! You can even seen blog posts from me and a couple other gluten-free bloggers there!
Another special treat, I am giving away a copy of Danna’s book – “Living Gluten-Free for Dummies”. This is the 2nd Edition of the book that was just recently updated last year. Would you like to win a copy? If so, leave a comment below telling me how long you have been gluten-free. That is it! Simple! The contest will end on Friday, May 20, 2011 at midnight.

My son and me, November 2000. This is before we were gluten-free/diagnosed Celiac.

I have been wheat free almost a year which makes me lean towards gluten free. It has been hard but I feel so much better. Thanks for all the great information.
Glad you are feeling better, Monica!
I've been gluten-free for about 3 months now! Definitely an adjustment, but I feel great!
Gina – Glad to hear that you are feeling great!
I have been gluten free for about 3 years. My fiance has trouble understanding the problem. He tries hard but I don't faint, break out in hives, vomit or anything he can see. This book would be a wonderful help to him/us! It is amazing how great I feel since avoiding my allergens! Yay!
Billie – I know how hard it is to get others on board sometimes. My husband was like that in the beginning, but now goes out of his way to make sure that Jon and I eat safely.
Hang in there!
My toddler has been gluten free since November 2010 and I have been since January 2011 (after my biopsy). Still learning the ropes at times, but reaping the benefits daily – so it's GREAT motivation to stay on track!
My son who has downs syndrom has been gluten free for 10 years now. There are so many more products available now than when we first started. He also has diabetes so we have to count carbohydrates as well as have gluten free meals. He now lives in a group home and the staff has been great about learning about celiac disease and diabetes. They have even developed a few recipes that our son just loves. We are always looking for more information and products; so glad we found this sight.
Deb – the GF diet certainly has come a long way! How great they they have developed recipes that your son loves! That makes all the difference.
I have been gluten free for 2 years and four months.
Great job, Cindy!
Danna's book "Living Gluten Free for Dummies" was the first book I read about gluten free cooking and living, and it is what showed me that I was gluten intolerant. I so appreciated how she wrote the book, so easy to understand and so insightful. It's been almost two years since I read her book and began my gluten free lifestyle, and I feel amazing! I recommend her book to anyone new to this lifestyle.
Alison – I am glad that you are feeling so good!!
I have been gluten free for 20 months and I have never felt better! Took years for a correct diagnosis!
Colleen – You won!!! Please email me kim@glutenfreeislife.com
Been GF for almost a year! Feel soooo much better! But still figuring out other sensitivities!
Great job, Alena! I know it is hard to find out what else bothers you. Hang in there!
I have been Gluten Free, and PAIN FREE, for 1 yr and 7 months. I would never go back, now that I know how much gluten was talking away from my life.
I've been gluten free since January 18th. That is 4 months and 1 day. Unbelievable. Being a dietitian-the gluten free diet was considered a nightmare to me. Not sure I've fully accepted it yet. The "Forever-ness" part is so hard for me. But I keep trucking along…
Keep up the good work, Raina! It does get easier, I promise.
