Welcome to August! I can’t believe that it is that time of year again, the time all parents wait for – BACK TO SCHOOL! My kids go back in 23 days, but who is counting? Jon will be a sophomore and Hannah a 4th grader. This makes me feel old. How can I have a son that is in 10th grade?! Where is my baby boy? This is Jon 15 years ago:
Now he is talking about getting his temporary driver’s license in approximately 2 months. Talk about a fast way to turn a mom’s hair grey! Hope he passes his test the first time, something his mother, grandmother, grandfather & aunt all failed to do. Yes, that is right, my parents and sister, along with myself, all failed our driver’s tests the first time around. Enough chatter, on with the menu!
Sunday – Salmon, brown rice, steamed veggies & salad (got some Coho wild salmon on sale from Whole Foods last week – it was excellent)
Monday – Rotisserie chicken, roasted beets, turnips & sweet potatoes and salad
Tuesday – Tacos, refried black beans, corn & salad
Wednesday – BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, roasted zuchinni, baked potatoes & salad
Thursday – Breakfast for dinner – waffles or pancakes, fruit & turkey bacon
Friday – Make your own pizza
Saturday – Grilled chicken & burgers, baked beans, corn on the cob and fruit salad

My son and me, November 2000. This is before we were gluten-free/diagnosed Celiac.

I start working on the 10th and my girls start school the 11th!!! My baby is starting Kindergarten!!!! I am so nervous for her to ride the bus! I was able to drive my oldest back and forth when she was in Kindergarten, I am not sure how well I am going to deal with that part!!!!
I know what you mean! I was a mess about Jon riding the bus – he started riding it in 2nd grade. Now, with Hannah, we live right next to the elementary school, but she has ridden it for field trips and it makes me nervous still. Will your youngest be in in half or full day kindy?
She is going to go to all day which is nice but we live on the mainland and her school is on one of the islands over here. I think that's what is really bother me! It's only 7 miles from out house to her school but there are bodies over water between it!!!!
I can understand your fears. I bet she will have a blast! Is she excited to start?
Oh yeah! She has complained all summer about not being in school yet! It doesn't hurt that her school is a block from the beach and has the biggest aquarium ever in it! I'm sure she'll be fine. Thanks for listening to me vent my concerns!
