{"id":3943,"date":"2011-10-28T17:07:18","date_gmt":"2011-10-28T21:07:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.glutenfreeislife.com\/?p=3943"},"modified":"2011-10-28T17:07:22","modified_gmt":"2011-10-28T21:07:22","slug":"miscellaneous-friday-treats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glutenfreeislife.com\/?p=3943","title":{"rendered":"Miscellaneous Friday Treats"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wlWriterHeaderFooter\" style=\"float:none; margin:0px; padding:4px 0px 4px 0px;\"><iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/widgets\/like.php?href=http:\/\/www.glutenfreeislife.com\/?p=3943\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; width:450px; height:80px\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>No tricks here, only treats.&#160; I thought I would share a few tidbits with you guys before the weekend.&#160; Lots of little things floating around my head &amp; computer that I want to share, but not enough to justify a post of their own.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>Halloween is Monday, as is our trick or treat night.&#160; We <strike>have<\/strike> had plenty of candy.&#160; I should know by now that it won\u2019t last in our house &amp; shouldn\u2019t even bother to bring it home until the day of trick or treat.&#160; Aaron brought candy home from work that we all have been in; I bought a couple of bags to fill some treat bags to \u201cBoo\u201d our neighbors and most of that has disappeared, too.&#160; For those looking for gluten-free candy lists, I have been using the following:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/surefoodsliving.com\/category\/halloween-candy-lists\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sure Food Living<\/a> \u2013 Alison put together a wonderful list this year<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/glutenfreeville.com\/featured\/halloween2011\" target=\"_blank\">Glutenfreeville<\/a> \u2013 A larger list \u2013 great for referencing after the kids trick or treat<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>My new favorite cup \u2013 Tervis Tumbler.&#160; <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.glutenfreeislife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/photo-11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"photo (11)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"photo (11)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glutenfreeislife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/photo-11_thumb.jpg\" width=\"252\" height=\"381\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have this fancy one that was sent to me as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodbuzz.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodbuzz.com\/pages\/tastemaker-program\" target=\"_blank\">Foodbuzz Tastemaker<\/a>s program with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tervis.com\/Main.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Tervis Tumbler<\/a> and I have another one that is larger with a peace symbol on it.&#160; Aside from being dishwasher safe (a must), they don\u2019t sweat.&#160; I drink a ton of water and when I don\u2019t use these cups, I always find my cups dripping on tables &amp; other surfaces.&#160; They also keep hot drinks hot (COFFEE!) for an extended period of time.&#160; <\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Jon\u2019s current favorite food combo.  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.glutenfreeislife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMG_3547.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"IMG_3547\" border=\"0\" alt=\"IMG_3547\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glutenfreeislife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/IMG_3547_thumb.jpg\" width=\"419\" height=\"289\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yep, baked beans + <a href=\"http:\/\/www.traderjoes.com\/\">Trader Joe\u2019s<\/a> gluten-free macaroni &amp; cheese.&#160; Not bad \u2013 I remember doing this as a kid, too!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Aaron took to the kitchen to bake some goodies with Jon the other day.&#160; They made some Betty Crocker chocolate chip cookies and muffins.&#160; The muffins were made from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pamelasproducts.com\/Default.aspx\">Pamela\u2019s<\/a> Pancake &amp; Baking Mix, with a little modification.&#160; They were lemon muffins sprinkled with powdered sugar.&#160; I asked him what he did so that I could share here with you all, so here goes:<\/p>\n<h4><u>Pamela\u2019s Muffins<\/u><\/h4>\n<p><em>*Recipe from the side of the bag, modifications made by Aaron<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 1\/4 cup Pamela\u2019s Mix<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup water (<font color=\"#ffc000\"><\/font><font color=\"#f79646\">Aaron used mostly lemon juice &amp; a splash of water<\/font>)<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup honey or 1\/4 cup sugar (<font color=\"#f79646\">Aaron used sugar<\/font>)<\/li>\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp vanilla<\/li>\n<li>Powdered sugar (to sprinkle over the top)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1.&#160; Mix all ingredients together and spoon into greased muffin pan, 2\/3 full. (Aaron used cupcake liners)<\/p>\n<p>2.&#160; Bake in preheated oven at 350 for 18-20 minutes.&#160; Makes 6 muffins.
