{"id":4307,"date":"2012-01-20T10:17:00","date_gmt":"2012-01-20T15:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.glutenfreeislife.com\/?p=4307"},"modified":"2012-01-20T16:20:02","modified_gmt":"2012-01-20T21:20:02","slug":"gluten-free-anniversary-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glutenfreeislife.com\/?p=4307","title":{"rendered":"Gluten-Free Anniversary #6"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wlWriterHeaderFooter\" style=\"float: none; margin: 0px; padding: 4px 0px 4px 0px;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width: 450px; height: 80px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/widgets\/like.php?href=http:\/\/www.glutenfreeislife.com\/?p=4307\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>I was driving the other day when I realized that I completely missed my 6-year gluten-free anniversary!\u00a0 I didn\u2019t just miss it by a day, either.\u00a0 I missed it by several.\u00a0 Today is January 20th and the day of the anniversary is January 12th.\u00a0 Ooops!\u00a0 I have learned so much over the past 6 years and feel much more comfortable with my lifestyle than I did in the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the most important things I have learned are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There are way more things that I can eat, than can\u2019t.<\/li>\n<li>Even after 6 years, I still make mistakes.<\/li>\n<li>There is life after being diagnosed with Celiac Disease and starting the gluten-free diet.<\/li>\n<li>The selection of gluten-free foods in grocery stores is much better now than it was 6 years ago.<\/li>\n<li>Even with all of the publicity the gluten-free diet has been getting, some people still look at me like I have 2 heads when I ask if they have a gluten-free menu.<\/li>\n<li>The gluten-free diet isn\u2019t necessarily a healthy or an unhealthy diet; your diet is what you make it.\u00a0 There are plenty of healthy &amp; unhealthy gluten-free foods out there, just like every other diet.<\/li>\n<li>Focusing on friends and family at gatherings is way more productive &amp; feels better than focusing on the food, whether I can eat it or not.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One of the foods I have missed most since going gluten-free was not one that I ate on a regular basis before, but it was a nice treat \u2013 Jelly Donuts.\u00a0 Up until recently, there were really no replacements out there.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.katzglutenfree.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Katz<\/a> Gluten-Free has changed that!\u00a0 I was able to sample &amp; review their new doughnuts and was very pleased!\u00a0 You can read my <a href=\"http:\/\/celiac-disease.com\/review-katz-gluten-free-doughnuts\/\" target=\"_blank\">full review here<\/a>.\u00a0 Katz is once again holding a Grand Raffle where the winner will receive a \u201cBox of Each Item\u201d box.
