Tuesday Fun: 11 Random Things

The lovely Sara from Words to Run By, tagged me in her “11 Random Things” post, so I thought today would be a good day to have a little fun.  Here are rules:

The Rules

  1. Post these rules.
  2. You must post 11 random things about yourself.
  3. Answer the questions set for you in their post.
  4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
  5. Go to their blog and tell them you’ve tagged them.
  6. No stuff in the tagging section about you are tagged if you are reading this. You legitimately have to tag 11 people!
11 Random Things

1.  Pink is my favorite color, though it didn’t use to be.  I used to hate the color pink.

2.  The first meal I learned to make was fried chicken and mashed potatoes.  I was around 10 or 11 at the time.  Oddly enough, I don’t think I have ever made fried chicken again.

3.  I used to think runners were crazy and would only consider running if chased.  Funny how things change.

4.  I would never have though that someone as wired as me would enjoy yoga so much.  I have a hard time sitting still, yet that 60-75 minutes of yoga really grounds me.

5.  My favorite pair off jeans is a pair I bought on Ebay several years back.  They are Gap Long & Lean.  I bought them on Ebay because Gap changed them and they didn’t fit the same, so I searched high & low for my beloved jeans.   The hem is frayed and 2 of the belt loops have come off.

6.  I eat jelly beans daily a lot.

7.  I have been known to rock out to High School Musical tunes on my iPhone while running.

8.  My 2nd toe is longer than my big toe.

9.  When growing up I would choose mashed potatoes over French fries in restaurants.  I specifically remember a waitress commenting that she hadn’t seen many kids choose mashed potatoes over fries before.

10.  Back to music – I am a big fan of 80s ballads – Sister Christian, Human, Right Here Waiting, Amanda, High Enough…  I’ll stop now before I embarrass myself anymore.

11.  My first car was a Honda CRX.  It had no real backseat, but that didn’t stop us from putting people back there.  Boy, we were stupid.

My answers to Sara’s questions:

  1. What is your favorite thing to cook?
  2. What is your favorite book? The Help
  3. What is your favorite distance to run? Half marathon
  4. What is your favorite season of the year? Autumn

I used to be the same way about pink, and although it's not my absolute favorite color, I tend to get compliments when I wear it. (and I used to avoid it) Wait, runners aren't crazy? ;) Good stuff, Kim. Fun way to start the day with some randomness about you. Happy day!

No blog, but here are my random things and answers!

    1. I love brussel sprouts. Actually crave them if I don't eat them often enough.
    2. I hated running as a kid. Every year our volleyball coaches would make us run a mile once – and I lived in fear of that day. LOL.
    3. Despite #2, I actually ran track in 7th grade. I didn't mind short distances, and I did the high jump.
    4. I took eight years of jazz lessons growing up.
    5. I was cut from the cheerleading squad in 8th grade. If you know me well, this was a blessing in disguise. I am NOT the cheerleading type :).
    6. I was a twin, and we were 2 1/2 months premature. My sister died three days after we were born.
    7. I used to hate pink as well. It is growing on me – especially running clothes.
    8. I do not know how to style my hair or apply makeup beyond mascara and lip gloss. And I'm okay with that!
    9. I am a very fast reader.
    10. I am not spatial. I confuse my right and left more often than I care to admit. And I bump into things because I don't judge the distance well enough.
    11. A high school (and middle school) classmate of mine married Eric Clapton. Yes, seriously.

    And my answers
    1. Where were you born? – Columbus, OH (OSU hospital)

    2. Siblings? Two younger sisters

    3. Pets? Two dogs – Pembroke Welsh corgis

    4. Sweet, salty or both? Sweet

    5. What would your last meal be? I can never pick a favorite anything – so I have no idea. First thing that popped in my head was a breakfast burrito from Northstar and a peanut butter cookie.

    6. Chocolate or vanilla? Chocolate

    7. Do you still have a home phone? Yes – my hubby insisted. Plus, we have a security system and needed a line for that.

    8. Favorite age growing up? 10

    9. What kind of car do you drive? 1999 Chevy Cavalier

    10. Least favorite chore. all of them :)

    11. What kind of toothpaste do you use? Crest

    • It was great to learn more about you, Jessica! I had no idea that you were a twin – I am sorry to hear about your sister. I really need to get to Northstar – I have never been there!

  • Yay!!! It was fun to learn more about you. I totally can relate to #3!! Thanks for participating! :)
