You all many remember Amy Green from a guest post she did here back in March 2011. Amy authors the blog, Simply Sugar & Gluten-Free, and brand new cookbook, Simply Sugar & Gluten-Free: 180 Easy & Delicious Recipes You Can Make in 20 Minutes or Less. The cookbook is just gorgeous and I am thrilled that I had the pleasure to review a copy and now give one away to one of my readers!

A little about Amy:
Amy Green, M.Ed., authors Simply Sugar & Gluten-Free, (www.SimplySugarAndGlutenFree.com) a blog about eating well, eliminating refined sugars and wheat, and maintaining a healthy weight. Her first cookbook, Simply Sugar & Gluten-Free: 180 Easy & Delicious Recipes You Can Make in 20 Minutes or Less, has been on Amazon’s best seller lists since its release in February 2011.
Amy has been living free from white sugar and wheat since 2004 and, as a result, is maintaining a 60+ pound weight loss. Over the years she’s learned that eating healthier doesn’t equal deprivation. She was recently interviewed on Martha Stewart Living Radio, Talk 980 USA, appeared on Channels KTEN and Channel 33 News, was featured in The Plano Profile, and will be in the April Edition of D Magazine. She is a field editor for Healthy Cooking Taste of Home, freelance writer, does recipe development, and teaches local sugar-free, gluten-free baking classes. Amy lives with her husband and four dogs in Dallas, TX.
Simply Sugar & Gluten-Free has so many appetizing recipes in it, I didn’t know where to start! I seriously needed to sit down and make a list of the different foods that I want to make from the book. I like Amy’s no nonsense approach to cooking & her methods for cutting down time spent in the kitchen; we can all use a extra time to do the things we really love to do, right? For me that is running & spending time with my family! Instead of using refined, white sugar, Amy uses a variety of sugar substitutes, such as palm sugar, agave nectar, banana, liquid stevia and more. I am thinking the Peanut Butter Hot Fudge Cake sounds like the perfect dessert to make for our Mother’s Day get together, which also happens to be the same day as my upcoming half marathon.

I love agave syrup. Nothing else tastes good, I don't want to put extra chemicals in my body, and I'm even cautious about stevia. So if I'm not using raw sugar, I'm using agave!
I try not to use any sugar at all:)

I like using honey. Especially if it's local it can help with seasonal allergies.
I use Coconut Crystals and coconut syrup. I also use Agave nectar. I am allergic to Stevia and Honey makes my blood sugar spike higher than any other sweetner.

I use stevia when I make granola, which is awesome! When forced to use a bulky sweetener, I think of honey as being the most naturally sourced and least tampered with.
Been trying to stick to a gluten-free diet and been checking out online for a gluten-free diet that I can use and stick to. I'll definitely check out this book soon.

Awesome post, I will on this blog later and I will suposses it to my mate
Todavia necesito aprender mas sobre este tema para poder seleccionar la opcion mas de acuerdo para mi. En estos momentos busco informacion sobre lo que se denomina de la “dieta dominguera”.
I also LOVE agave!!! Sometimes I use applesauce though and switch out the sugar and the oil! Thanks for sharing your book with us!
For the past years, I have been relying on the Truvia brand of stevia as my sweetener due to my fructose intolerance but have recently learned (that's what I get for not doing complete research on everything I eat) that it contains the additive erythritol which causes all the symptoms I've been working hard to eliminate due to food allergies/intolerances. sigh. So, now I'm using agave and raw stevia which doesn't have the additive. But given the information I have also learned and that is the very little that is actually known (very few in depth studies have been completed) about the commercial production of stevia as an artificial sweetener, I believe I'll stick mostly with agave.
